You have a lot to do and it’s not easy to get organized in an instant. You need to know your team well and be able to determine their strengths in order for you to give them better assignments. Yes, planning is very important but delegating your tasks at hand could also be very tiresome to say the least. You have to keep on monitoring your team on their progress. There’s a lot that you have to do but you can’t seem to work on it until everyone has finished their tasks. You find that pretty soon you’re  jumping in and helping them in the process. There are many things you should consider when delegating or allocating the workload, like what are your team’s strengths, what is the delivery time and how long each task should take. Sometimes you give yourself too much leeway, or too little time to think. Then, you suddenly realize that YOU FAIL on task management.

 

WHY?

 

Because, you keep on going back to those sensitive projects which you’ve already assigned. You can’t seem to let go and you have a lot of “what ifs” which have not happened yet, but you seem to preempt it. Then, you realize that you are just surrounding yourself with issues instead of facing what you can do right now, at this very moment.

You have that feeling that you can’t seem to trust your team or the people you’ve assigned to be able to handle the work independently.

 

But the truth is…they can HANDLE IT.

When you keep on looking back, you will only let yourself fall into “square one”.

Avoid this type of mindset by exploring various options. There are a lot of strategies that you can counter this way of thinking. Build that trust inside yourself. If you believe you can do it, then you should believe that your team can do it too. It’s just a matter of sharing that trust around you. Boost their skills and help them see how your plans would come into light. Plans can be very vague at times, but it’s up to you as the business owner, how you can liven it up a bit. Don’t dwell on the standards, develop some techniques on your own.

 

Yes, the project may be time-sensitive and you can’t seem to take your mind off of it. Still, you need to find it in you to unlearn or to learn ways to be able to delegate tasks effectively without looking back on your shoulders.

Rushing into things will only lead to failure without proper planning.

 

Don’t rush into things. Take a big leap of faith only if you have all the resources you need within your reach. You need to learn when you should take a chance. Don’t just grab at a losing end and then fall down the ladder. Without the proper motivational tools or lack of the needed materials you and your team might just be passing through the rough road not knowing what it takes to survive. Learn the strategies and have the basic tools at hand before you take the steps to your goals.

 

Understand the needs of your team and create friendly relationships.

 

Your team may be a unit because they want to work together for different reasons. As a good leader, you must listen to them to know each of their stories. You need to be able to reach out and understand their individuality, in turn they also need you to be within their reach. Give them time to adjust on things and be able to forgive their faults from time to time. Your will learn a lot from different people and in the process gain their cooperation and friendship.

 

Stay focused in reaching the goals you’ve set into place.

 

You are on the right track. Follow that path in front of you and don’t take the easy way out of things. If you feel that anyone from your team is going the wrong way help him or her go back to the path you’ve planned as a team. Don’t let anyone fall, but if they do, just get them back up. Find the motivation you need to be able to stay focused.

 

Test yourself from time to time to know your limits and where you can push forward.

 

It is important to do some knowledge check from time to time. If you do, then your team will keep on challenging themselves as well. If you feel that you have reached another milestone then go ahead and test your skills. It is necessary to boost your team’s morale and therefore being able to keep everyone on track in your business.

 

Lastly, it’s not too late to realize that you have a long way to go…but don’t lose sight.
